Michele Klecker-Sailor Mass Communication Scholarship

In February 2016, the Michele Klecker-Sailor Mass Communication Scholarship was established with the Winona State University Foundation. The scholarship will support and encourage students who are majoring in Mass Communication.

Criteria

  • Each recipient must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time and in good standing at Winona State University (minimum of 12 credits per semester, Fall and Spring)
  • Each recipient must be a declared Mass Communication major
  • Recipient may be a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior or 5th year student
  • Each recipient must have a G.P.A of 2.5 or higher.

Biography/Motivation

Michele Klecker-Sailor graduated from Winona State University in 1994 with a B.A. in Mass Communications/Advertising Option. She is a writer and published author of three children’s books, including The Patient Leaf, Max, and Max and Junk Yard Dog Meet a Rascal. Her book Max and Junk Yard Dog Meet A Rascal has earned a book endorsement from the organization Butler vs. Bullying, LeRoy Butler’s organization to help prevent bullying.

From 1997-2007, Michele worked as the Advertising and Marketing Coordinator for ALLBreed Obedience and Behavioral School for Dogs in Woodbury, Minnesota.

Michele created this scholarship to support Mass Communication students, encouraging them to use their knowledge for the good of their communities.
