Richard & Camille Moll General Engineering Scholarship
First Year Student Criteria
What: A $1000 scholarship open to incoming first year students declaring a General Engineering major.
If you are an incoming first year General Engineering major you are strongly encouraged to apply. The scholarship is automatically renewable for your second (sophomore) year if you meet satisfactory completion of coursework. The amount of the award will increase from $1000 during their first year to $1500 for the second year.

Eligibility
To be eligible to receive the scholarship, the applicant must
1. be an entering first-year student with a planned start date of Fall 2025.
2. be a declared General Engineering major*.
3. have a math placement into pre-calculus or a higher math class for first year students. This would be indicated, for example, by a Math ACT score of 24 or higher. If a student is uncertain about their math placement, they should contact the person indicated below.
4. demonstrate potential for success in the field of engineering, and naturally, math, and science.
- Students must remain a General Engineering major for the entire academic year to receive the full dollar amount; if the awardee changes their major during the year, the scholarship could be forfeited.

Your application must address the following prompts:
1. Explain why this scholarship will make a difference in your college career.
2. Explain why you chose to study general engineering and pursue a career in this field.
3. Describe your experiences and how they have played into your interest in engineering. these could be but are not limited to (1) hobbies, (2) something you created, crafted, built, designed, repaired, or improved in your life or the life of others, (3) experience with technology that the average person doesn’t use (e.g. robotics , programmed a microcontroller such as an Arduino, 3D printing,, wearables) or (4) a Do-It-Yourself project. It could be something you did by yourself or a project you completed with a team.
4. Provide letter of support from a STEM teacher (have the teacher send the letter directly to the contact indicated below)

Admitted General Engineering Student Criteria
What: – A $3000 scholarship open to General Engineering students at WSU who have been admitted to the program.
*Eligibility**
To be eligible to receive the scholarship, the applicant must
1. be enrolled in and in good standing at Winona State University.
2. successfully complete a minimum of 15 credits per semester (Fall and Spring).
3. be addmitted into the General Engineering program by the start of Fall 2024.
4. have GPA of 2.5 or higher and meet course program requirements.
- Students must remain a General Engineering major for the entire academic year to receive the full dollar amount; if the awardee changes their major during the year, the scholarship could be forfeited.
