Jon C. Nienow first encountered Winona State when, as a high school sophomore, he filled in for a sick fellow student at a speech contest held on the Winona campus. He had the immediate sense that the college would become his alma mater. During the next two years, Jon attended nearly every workshop, class, or presentation available to high school students at the college.

Jon finally entered Winona State in 1969. He graduated with an accounting degree four years later and went to work as the business office manager in an automobile dealership. He later became Chief Financial Officer of the dealership and Chief Executive Officer of a real estate holding corporation.

At Winona State, Jon was involved with the Business Department Advisory Committee. He recently was named a member of the Integrated Wellness Complex Capital Cabinet. Jon remarks that his return to service for the university has been one of the greatest joys of his life, because of what Winona State is becoming, and because he has gotten to know the outstanding people who are there today.
