Durr and Schroth Scholarship

The Durr and Schroth Scholarship is for students majoring in the Elementary Education program.

Criteria

1. Recipient(s) must be an undergraduate student(s) enrolled fulltime at Winona State University.
2. Each recipient must be classified as a junior and be in good standing at Winona State University with a minimum overall grade point average (g.p.a.) of 3.0 (4.0 = A).
3. Each recipient must be a declared major in Winona State Universitys elementary education program.
4. other qualifications include strong commitment to teaching and high ethical standards, a willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities designed to develop teaching and leadership skills, and a willingness to participate in classroom or teaching situations identified by the department, or area schools.

Biography/Motivation

In loving memory of Emma Edith Kent Durr, July 13, 1888 – April 15, 1985, a graduate of the elementary course of the State Normal School of Winona, Minnesota, 1907, and my parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Schroth, and uncle, Alfred Schroth. Mrs. Durr taught in Minnesota, Washington, Ketchikan, Alaska, and the old Jefferson School, Winona, plus many years in St. Paul, mainly at Davis School. She was married to Charles Warren Durr on August 3, 1929.
