WSU Foundation Board Scholarship

The WSU Foundation Board Scholarship is created for freshmen students who have a high school GPA of 3.9 or higher. An interview is required as part of the application process. Candidates are determined from a review of essays submitted to the WSU Foundation Board.

The WSU Foundation Board of Trustees started the WSU Foundation Board Scholarships in 1985-1986 offering $750 renewable scholarships to top students. The monies for these awards come from donations from many benefactors to the WSU Foundation unrestricted sustaining fund. Your gifts matter!
Students who have qualified by having a high school GPA of 3.9 or higher are invited to apply to increase their Presidential Honor award to $4,000 a year.

Essays will be reviewed by the WSU Foundation Scholarship Committee. Finalists (8 – 10) from the essay review are interviewed by the WSU Foundation Scholarship Committee. Students are rated on their: Attributes, Personality, School Activities, Sports, Community Service, Leadership, Appearance, Self Expression, Self Discipline and attitude.

Criteria

1. Must be a new incoming freshman for fall semester (planning to be full-time-at least 12 credits per semester)
2. Must have a high school GPA of 3.9 or higher

  1. Please enter a one page essay describing what you wish to learn while attending WSU and what success will look like after you graduate. Include the following information at the top of your essay: your full name, parent name(s), permanent address, phone number, email address, High School and High School graduation date. If you participate in and have community service/leadership experience, please write another one page essay describing your involvement and how it has helped prepare you for your future career opportunities.
  2. Please list a name and an email for a reference from one of your high school teachers. We will email them with instructions on how to complete the reference.
