Leslie Gage Scholarship

The Leslie Gage Scholarship is created for students who have declared a major in WSU’s Elementary Education program.

Criteria

1. Each recipient must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time (minimum 15 credit hours) at Winona State University.
2. Each recipient must be classified as a junior and be in good standing at Winona State University with a minimum grade point average (g.p.a.) of 3.0 (4.0 A).
3. Each recipient must be a declared major in Winona State Universitys Elementary Education program.
4. Each recipient must have been accepted into the Teacher Education Program.
5. Each recipient must have declared an academic minor.

Biography/Motivation

Miss Leslie Gage was a professional educator who served Winona State University and its students for 28 years. She was a member of the Education Department from 1922 until her retirement in 1950. During her long and distinguished Winona State career, Miss Gage instructed the primary education methods course at the University and served as the primary grades supervisor at Phelps School, where she also taught third-grade students. Miss Gage passed away on July 8, 1966, in Winona.
