John J. & Jeanine S. McShea Political Science Scholarship
John J. McShea graduated from Winona State University in 1979 earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in Political Science and Business Administration. John continued his education earning a Masters of Management/MBA degree in 1986 from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, with a concentration in Finance.
John has spent the past 25+ years in the U.S. Capital Markets marketing fixed income securities to institutional investors. John began his career with IBM Corporation in Chicago, IL. He was a part of the first group of marketers of the original small business computer, and predecessor of the personal computer, used primarily by first time computer users in the manufacturing and industrial sectors. From there his vast experience has included various positions with Wall Street firms as well as large foreign banks, Merrill Lynch, Mesirow Securities, and ABN Amro USA. Currently, John is Executive Director, Head of Fixed Income Sales at Mizuho Securities USA in Chicago, IL. In each of these high level positions, since Merrill Lynch, he has assisted in the growth of these institutions from early stages of Capital Markets development to the present. John has served as a trustee on the WSU Foundation Board since 2011.
Jeanine McShea graduated from Winona State University in 1980 earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Business. Jeanine went on to earn her Real Estate Sales License in 1985, Real Estate Broker License in 1991 and her Real Estate Managing Broker for the State of Illinois in 2011.
Jeanine has been working in the Chicago real estate industry for 25+ years and with her extensive experience and knowledge, is currently a Real Estate Consultant for top real estate Firm, Baird & Warner, as well as an educator & coach implementing curriculum programming as well as teaching courses for the Chicago Association of Realtors. Jeanine also is a guest professor at Roosevelt University Real Estate Master’s Program. Her success has earned McShea write-ups in business publications Crain’s “Fast Fifty” and Inc Magazine’s “Inc 500.”Jeanine received the WSU Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008 and served on President Judith Ramaley’s Advisory Board. John and Jeanine both return to Winona State University often as Alumni speakers in classrooms.
John and Jeanine McShea have three adult children: Erin, Justin and Kristin. They live a very active lifestyle. Their hobbies and pastimes include travelling, cycling and sailing. John is an avid sailor, mountain climber, and cross country skier.
