Leone J. & Thomas E. Mauszycki Scholarship
Thomas Mauszycki D.D.S., was born August 4, 1940 in Winona, MN and graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1958. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Winona State University in 1963 and went on to attend the University of Minnesota’s School of Architecture. Thomas also attended the University of Minnesota’s School of Dentistry from 1966-1970 and earned his doctorate. In1970, Thomas began his work as a Doctor of Dental Surgery, which he continued until his retirement in 2002.
Thomas is also a member of over a dozen organizations spanning a variety of subjects including the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA), the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the Junto Club, the Minnesota Historical Society, The Winona County Historical Society, and the Minneapolis Art Institute. He is also a member of several professional associations including the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, the Southeastern Minnesota Dental Society, and the Winona County Dental Society. Thomas currently lives in Winona with his wife of over 30 years, Leone.

Leone Mauszycki was born October 31, 1946 in Amery, WI and graduated from Richfield Sr. High School, in Richfield, MN in 1965. She studied at University of Minnesota-Minneapolis Campus Clinical Lab in 1966 and completed her EEG training at the Clinic of Neurology and Psychiatry in Golden Valley, MN. Leone also studied dental assisting at the University of Minnesota – Rochester and Normondale Technical Colleges earning her Minnesota Registration in 1974 and her National Certification in 1979. She also completed approximately 120 credit hours majoring in individualized studies at Winona State University.
Leone began her career at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis from 1966-1970 working in the clinical laboratory and serving as the EKG/EEG Department chair. From 1968-1970 Leone was also the EEG Technician at the Sister Kenney Institute in Minneapolis. In 1970, Leone became the Chief Financial Officer for Mauszycki Leasing, work she still continues today. She was also the CFO in charge of cooperative design, development, and construction management of the Mauszycki Real Estate office building from 1970-1999. Leone also worked with her husband, Thomas, as a dental assistant and CFO for 30 years.
Leone also contributed to several published medical researches and political initiatives including the Highway 61 Task Force Report submitted to the City of Winona and Minnesota Dept. of Transportation, the 1922 Transportation Bill lobbied and testified before the Senate and House Transportation Committees, and the clinical trials of the test drug Eldopa (as a cure for Parkinson’s disease).
Leone shares many of her husband’s interests in various organizations and is also a member of several professional associations including the Winona State University Foundation, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and the Winona Area Personnel Management Association. She has won various awards from the City of Winona, the state of Minnesota, and American Medical Association. In her free time, she enjoys art, golf, nature, photography, and travel.
