Shayde Rudenick Scholarship
The Shayde Rudenick Scholarship Award was created after Shayde’s death in 1995 to honor a Brother who lost a courageous battle to a horrible disease.
The chapter was very stunned by Shayde’s situation and we wanted to honor Shayde’s memory and keep his legacy alive in our hearts and the history of our chapter. After much discussion, it was decided to start a scholarship in his name.
Shayde represented what every Brother of Pi Lambda Phi strives for: He was intelligent, athletic, and active on campus and within the fraternity.
Shayde was a well-rounded individual who was involved in many aspects of college life and he was very popular and well-liked by the people who knew him.
The scholarship criteria is fashioned to recognize the student who best reflected Shayde’s attributes. It is not enough to have the academic achievements. You also need to be involved on campus and the community.
As the chairman of the Shayde Rudenick Scholarship award for the past several years, I am pleased to say that the students who have been bestowed with this award have held to the high standards that we would expect from anyone associated with it. They have proven themselves to be leaders and scholars we expected them to be. All of them are very proud to be following in the footsteps of someone so revered by the Brothers of Pi Lambda Phi fraternity.
