• Student with declared major in Elementary Education, preference for incoming freshmen
• Financial need
GPA of 3.0 or higher

Background and Motivation
Joyce Jenney grew up in Morris, Minnesota and graduated from Winona State University in 1964 with a BS in Elementary Education, earning a Master of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1971. Joyce spent 30 years as a Kindergarten teacher in Glenwood, MN. Joyce was the first recipient of the Teacher of the Year award in the Glenwood school district. She served as President of the Glenwood Education Association, Board Director of the Minnesota Education Uniserv and was a delegate to the National Education Assembly.

Joyce attributes the foundation for her success to the professors and programs in WSU’s College of Education. Without the scholarship that Joyce received to attend Winona State, her family would not have been able to afford to send her to college. Joyce graduated as the first among her 5 siblings. Joyce was happy to be able to give back and help support a WSU student’s dream of attending college through this scholarship.
