Susan Hoefer Memorial Scholarship

In December 2023, the Susan Hoefer Memorial Scholarship was established with the Winona State University Foundation. The scholarship will benefit and encourage students who are majoring in Nursing.

Background and Motivation
The creation of the scholarship dedicated to Susan Hoefer originates from her commendable path after receiving an honorable discharge from the Army. With a strong commitment to her passion for nursing, Susan graduated from Winona State School of Nursing. As a devoted nurse (RN), she entered into a fulfilling career prioritizing the well-being and care of individuals in need.

Susan’s professional career led her through esteemed institutions, including Marshfield Hospital, Mayo Hospitals in La Crosse and Rochester. Her commitment to patients and her compassionate demeanor earned her respect among colleagues, making her a comforting presence for countless individuals during moments of vulnerability.

Later in life, Susan discovered fulfillment as a traveling nurse, generously sharing her expertise and compassion in healthcare facilities across the nation. Her adventurous spirit and unwavering dedication to her profession left a lasting impact on every community she encountered, serving as the inspiration foundation for the scholarship established in her honor.
