Background and Motivation
Gabriel and Cecilia Manrique have been professors for more than 35 years. One of the most rewarding and educational things they have done is to travel extensively both in the U.S.A. and abroad, having visited all 50 U.S. states and more than 50 countries. Gabriel was very involved in establishing the faculty-led program at WSU when he was the Director of Continuing Education. He and Cecilia were also able to take students on 3 travel programs – to Brazil, England and Egypt. They would like to give students a chance to experience other parts of the world much as they have. They are aware that cost is a major deterrent for many students who may want to participate in a travel study program. Hence this scholarship.
