The Patricia Cieminski Family Scholarship in Business
In December 2018, the Patricia Cieminski Family Scholarship in Business was established with the Winona State University Foundation. The scholarship will benefit and encourage students who are majoring in Business.
Criteria
1. Each recipient must be enrolled full-time and in good standing at Winona State University (minimum 12 credits per semester)
2. Each recipient must be must be admitted to the College of Business
3. Each recipient must have a GPA of 3.0 (4.0 = A)
4. Each recipient must demonstrate financial need; however, financial need will not be based solely on FAFSA
5. Each recipient must demonstrate hard work and dedication academically
6. Preference will be given to a student who has demonstrated leadership in the classroom, on campus or in the community
Background and Motivation
Patricia Arnoldy Cieminski was born in 1931 in Rollingstone, MN. She graduated from Rollingstone Holy Trinity High School and then attended Winona Secretarial School. Upon graduation, she worked at Watkins in Winona. Patricia and Donald were married in January, 1954, and raised four daughters, Debbie, Denise, Deanna and Darlene. The Cieminski’s have two granddaughters and three great-granddaughters. Don graduated from Winona State College in 1952, and spent his career in education, teaching business education in Houston, MN, and the Twin Cities.
Family is Pat’s passion and her love for her family is ever present. Her daughters describe their mother as encouraging, supportive and always there. Pat enjoys cooking, reading and needlework. Pat and Don love to travel; one of their favorite trips was to England.
Pat and Don are generous supporters of Winona State students and have been actively involved for decades. Pat hopes this scholarship will encourage students in the College of Business to achieve their academic dreams, and will inspire future generations to do the same.
