Background and Motivation
Tina Mazurkiewicz graduated from Winona State University in 1985, earning a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (an earlier version of Medical Lab Science). Tina spent two years working as a Med Tech at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center’s (now Rush) Immunology and Endocrinology labs, then moved on to a very successful and rewarding career at Abbott Laboratories. She was able to apply her Med Tech skills and knowledge in various areas within Abbott, including Product Development, Operations, Quality, Regulatory and Program Management. Her career gave her the opportunity to live in various locations (Chicago, Boston, San Francisco and Wiesbaden, Germany) and to work with various sites around the world. She was part of the team that developed Abbott’s first Hepatitis C screening assay as well as various other novel diagnostic products.
Tina attributes the foundation of her success to the Med Tech program at WSU and wants to use this scholarship to give back and help support a WSU student’s journey.
