Jeff & Alison Kusch Accounting Scholarship
In November 2018, The Jeff & Alison Kusch Accounting Scholarship was established with the Winona State University Foundation. The scholarship will benefit and encourage students who are majoring in Accounting.
Criteria
1. Each recipient must be enrolled full-time and in good standing at Winona State University (minimum 12 credits per semester)
2. Each recipient must be an accounting major
3. Each recipient must be a student entering their Junior or Senior year at WSU.
4. Each recipient must have a GPA of 3.25or higher (4.0=A)
Background and Motivation
Jeff Kusch earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting at Winona State University, and also holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
Jeff is executive vice president, insurance operations at The Main Street America Group and serves as president and chief executive officer of Main Street America affiliate Austin Mutual Insurance Company.
Jeff joined Austin Mutual Insurance Company in 1992 as an accounting manager. His leadership roles at Austin Mutual included treasurer, secretary, president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board. Following Austin Mutual’s affiliation with Main Street America in 2012, Jeff became Main Street America’s Western Region president, a role he held until his appointment as our senior vice president, field operations, in February 2015. Jeff was promoted in January 2017 to his current role.
Jeff and his wife Alison have three children, Aaron, Ryan & Dana. Ryan is currently a sophomore majoring in accounting at WSU.
Jeff and Alison have chosen to establish this scholarship to support a students pursuing a degree in accounting, with the hopes that his experience at WSU might also be shared by future generations of WSU Warriors.
