Ruth Dick Scholarship

The Ruth Dick Scholarship is created to encourage and support students seeking a degree in Physical Education and Recreation.

Criteria

1. Each recipient must be an undergraduate student enrolled in at least 12 credits per semester
2. Each first-time recipient must

  • In good standing at Winona State University with a minimum grade point average 3.0 (g.p.a. 4.0 =A)
    3. Each recipient must have financial need
    4. Each recipient must be a declared major in the PER program

Biography/Motivation

Ruth Marie Dick is being honored posthumously for a bequest made to the Winona State University Foundation. Ruth was born May 16, 1929. She was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Winona State in 1951 in High School Physical Education with minors in Spanish and History. Ruth was inducted as a charter member of the 1858 Founders Society when she named her alma mater as one of the beneficiaries of her estate. She passed away in December of 2002 in Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin where she had lived for many years.
