Warren & Dorothy Marley Business Education Scholarship
The Warren & Dorothy Marley Scholarship is created for students majoring in Business Education.
Criteria
Each recipient, at the time of receiving the Marley Scholarship Award, must be a full-time student and a member in good standing of the senior class at Winona State University.
Each recipient must have a minimum accumulated G.P.A. of 3.00.
Each recipient must be a declared major in Business Education.
Biography/Motivation
Warren and Dorothy Marley and Family established a scholarship in the College of Business. Warren was a longtime professor in the WSU College of Business. A 1947 graduate of the University of Iowa, he taught at WSU from 1949 until 1979, leaving during the period of 1953-55 to obtain his Doctorate. Dorothy received her bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Iowa and worked in bookkeeping throughout her life. Warren Marley died in May of 1979 at the age of 58, and Dorothy died in July of 1998 at the age of 73. Their children Diane Marley of Winona and James Marley of New York, N.Y., survive them. James manages the private equity investment at HSBA Capital, Inc. He received his bachelor’s degree with high distinction for the University of Minnesota and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School.
