Biography/Motivation

Connie Greylak was born July 23, 1953, to Victor and Susan Smith. She was raised in Waterford, Mich., and attended Ferris State University, later earning her nursing degree from Winona State University. Connie and Mark met in Breckenridge, Colo., and were married in 1976, and moved to the beautiful Trempealeau area the following year.

Connie loved adventure including skydiving, skiing, long bicycle trips, kayaking and riding her horse, Cody. Connie also enjoyed wood-carving and loved the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, and her bucket list was extensive. Connie was a dedicated RN and worked in the emergency room of Gundersen Clinic for many years, before joining United Health Care.

With a great zest for life and many friends, Connie’s deepest joy came from her children, Katie (Eric) Retzlaff, Thomas (Amy) and Annie. She loved to spend weekends with the grandchildren, Logan, Mason and Maddie, and she was anxiously awaiting the upcoming birth of Thomas and Amy’s first child, Willis.
