Biography/Motivation
As Minnesota natives, the Thompson Family holds many fond memories of the Winona Community. Patrick Thompson of Winona, MN and Janet (Jozwick) Thompson of Stockton, MN (Class of ‘69) are just two of the many Thompsons (and Jozwicks) to have spent time both in Winona and more particularly at WSU. Aside from Patrick and Janet, many other relatives have benefitted from spending time in Winona. These include mothers, mother in-laws, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, daughter in-laws, nieces, and nephews, all of whom have been able to contribute and grow as a result of their association with WSU. The Thompsons know that the community of Winona and Winona State University has given them the tools needed to succeed throughout various stages of life, both personally and professionally. In 2009, Patrick and Janet started the Thompson Family Foundation in an effort to start giving back to those who gave them the necessary tools to achieve success. Their son Trevor and daughter in-law Katherine (Klipstine) Thompson (Class of ’09) have taken the helm of managing the Thompson Family Foundation as it relates to Winona State University. The Thompson family believes in WSU, the various colleges within WSU, and most importantly the students at WSU. The Thompson’s hope is that their scholarships will provide students with the help needed to bring their talents to the world when they graduate.
