Background and Motivation
Brooke Baures grew up in Chetek, WI and was an All-American female student-athlete on the Winona State Gymnastics team from 2011-2014. Brooke was a dedicated daughter, sister, student, and teammate. She had plans of graduating with a bachelors degree in Social Work in the spring of 2015. On December 1st, 2014 Brooke passed away in a tragic accident. She was the kind of person that everyone wanted to be around. Smart, funny, beautiful, and very determined. She always gave her best and expected a lot out of herself and her teammates. She had a smile that could light up any room and she had a passion for helping others. Her legacy has since carried on at WSU and this scholarship was created in remembrance of the special life she lived and all the people she touched while she was at Winona State. The Geislinger and Baures families are thankful to be in a position to give back and help support a WSU student’s dream of attending college through this scholarship. SMILE ON.
