Luther McCown & Joe Gerlach Baseball Scholarship

In July 2016, the Luther McCown and Joe Gerlach Baseball Scholarship was established as an annual fund in the Winona State University Foundation. The scholarship will benefit and encourage students who are members of the WSU Baseball team.

Criteria

1. Each recipient must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time and in good standing at Winona State University (Minimum of 12 credits per semester, Fall and Spring)
2. Each recipient must be a member of the WSU Baseball team.
3. Each recipient must have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher. However g.p.a. should not be a considered primary criteria.

Biography/Motivation

Luther McCown was Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach as well as a teacher in the Health and Physical Education Department. McCown Gymnasium is named after him. He was well respected by his peers as a coach and educator.

Joe Gerlach was Head Basketball and Baseball Coach, Assistant Football Coach as well as an instructor in the Health and Physical Education Department.

These two gentleman affected the lives of hundreds of students that were taught or coached by them. We will be forever grateful for the influence they had on our lives.
