Background and Motivation
Kimberly A. McCullough was born in Winona, MN in 1956 and graduated from WSU, as did both her parents. She spent her youth in Rockford, IL and was a foreign exchange student in Peru in 1973 before for senior year. While in high school, she became a recipient of the National Honor Society scholarship as well as a citizenship award. Her father died when she was 16, and therefore such awards were impactful and served as motivation for giving back. After receiving her BA in Geology in 1977 from WSU and her Masters in Earth Sciences from Case Western Reserve University in 1978, she joined Shell Oil Company and later formed her own consulting and prospect generation company in 1989. Her passion for geology and the desire to give back have led to the establishment of this endowment aimed at helping students attain their goals. Kim also has never forgotten her participation in women’s varsity sports and all the wonderful experiences she had while at WSU.
