Cynthia Nelson Scholarship

“I grew up in a modest, blue collared family in Rochester, Minnesota. My father had an eighth-grade education and my mother a high school education, yet they provided a strong education of values through their daily examples. Always helping those in need – family, friend, neighbor or stranger. I grew up understanding that this is what a person does, sharing your blessings with others. I was the first person in our family to attend college and I know it was a financial sacrifice on my family for me to attend Winona State. I have both undergraduate and graduate degrees from WSU. My parents paid for the first one and my employer reimbursed me for the graduate degree. So having been a recipient in funding my education it is now my wish to be the provider to others in needs relative to their education at Winona State.”
