Michael Garvey Scholarship

Michael Garvey earned a MBA Winona State University in 1991. He joined the staff of Hormel Foods, worked for 3M, P&G and the Vaccine Division of Merck Pharmaceuticals. Throughout his 15-year career in corporate sales, Michael earned several top sales awards and successfully managed key accounts including Target, Staples and the State of New York.

“I have found sales to be a very rewarding career both personally and professionally. I accepted my first sales position shortly after graduation from WSU. My career in sales has allowed me to travel the country and interact with people from all walks of life. Sales is a great beginning for a business career, it offers unlimited opportunities to those that are diligent and driven. I believe that sales people have a distinct advantage for professional growth within an organization; their knowledge of products and competitors, as well as customer needs, gives them a diverse outlook on the strengths of their organization. The most effective business leaders have an innate understanding of their customers’ needs, and with this scholarship I hope to guide WSU business students to become leaders in their chosen industries.”
